Protection settings

Overview

All everyday settings are on the Protection tab of RB Plugins → Disable Right Click. Each protection works on its own, so you can switch on exactly the ones your site needs.

What to block

Right click / context menu Stops the browser’s right-click menu, so visitors cannot use “Save image as”, “Copy” or “Inspect” from it.

Text selection Prevents selecting and highlighting text with the mouse. Without a selection there is nothing to copy with the menu or the keyboard.

Copy, cut, paste and select-all shortcuts (Ctrl/⌘+C/X/V/A) Blocks these keyboard shortcuts anywhere on the page — including inside text fields. Avoid this option on pages with contact forms, comment boxes or checkout fields, or exempt the roles that need to fill them in.

Dragging images out of the page Stops images from being dragged onto the desktop or into another window or tab.

Where

Everywhere on the site Protection applies on every front-end page.

Only on selected content types Tick the post types to protect — posts, pages and any custom post type. Protection applies on single pages of those types only; archives, search results and the homepage stay unprotected.

Need protection on search results, the 404 page, the login screen or archives, or only on a few specific URLs? That is Precision scope and Opposite Mode in PRO.

Exceptions

Logged-in users with any of the ticked roles skip all protection on every page, so they can still edit, copy and quote content normally. Tick at least Administrator — it keeps your own work on the front end unrestricted.

The admin area is never protected, whatever you choose here.

Message

Show a short message when a blocked action is attempted A small notice appears at the bottom of the screen for about two seconds after a blocked attempt, instead of nothing happening silently. Visitors understand the site works as intended and is not broken.

Message text The text of the notice. The default is “Copying this content is not allowed.” — write something that fits your site, for example a line about how to request permission to reuse content.

Saving

Click Save changes. Settings are saved in the background, without a page reload, and apply to the next page a visitor opens. If a caching plugin serves cached pages, clear its cache so visitors get the new settings.
