Publishing a gallery

Overview

A gallery is made once and can be shown anywhere — on several pages, in a sidebar, in a page builder. Change the gallery, and every place shows the change.

The Embed panel of the gallery editor has the gallery’s shortcode and the PHP line for themes, each with a Copy button. A new gallery gets them when it is saved.

Block editor

Click + and search for Photo Gallery RB (in the Media category)
Choose the gallery in the block’s settings on the right
Optionally choose another Layout for this place — “As set in the gallery” keeps the gallery’s own

The editor shows the real gallery. Edit this gallery opens the gallery editor in a new tab. The block can be wide or full width, if the theme supports it.

Switches such as slider_autoplay, lb_thumbs or lb_download take 1 or true (on), 0 or false (off). A name or value that does not exist is ignored.

Elementor

Search for Photo Gallery RB in the widgets panel and drop it on the page. Choose the Gallery and, if you like, another Layout. Manage galleries opens the list of your galleries.

Divi

Add the Photo Gallery RB module to a row and choose the Gallery and, if you like, another Layout.

Classic widgets

Themes with widget areas have the Photo Gallery RB widget. Its Gallery shows one of your galleries; or leave it at — Images chosen below — and, as in version 1, pick a few images right in the widget with Choose images, set the Columns and, if you like, Hide captions.

Widgets made with version 1 keep working after the update: they show the same images with the new gallery and lightbox.

Galleries load only where they are

The gallery’s scripts and styles are loaded only on pages that show a gallery. Each gallery’s CSS is part of the gallery itself, and its HTML is made on the server, so the photos show before any script runs and search engines see them.
