Fine-grained control (PRO)

Overview

The PRO section of the Advanced tab — PRO: fine-grained control — decides precisely where protection applies and how it behaves. It is available when the PRO key is active.

Precision scope

Precision scope — also protect

The free Where setting protects single posts, pages and custom post types. Precision scope extends protection to the other WordPress views:

  • Search results
  • 404 page
  • Login page
  • Author pages
  • Category/tag archives
  • Front page

Tick only the views you need — protecting the login page, for example, also blocks pasting into its fields if copy shortcuts are blocked.

Opposite Mode

Opposite Mode turns the scope around: instead of protecting the site and listing what stays open, you list the pages to protect, one path or full URL per line (for example /pricing/).

Once any URL is listed, every other scope setting is ignored — protection applies only to the listed pages, nowhere else. Leave the list empty to use the normal scope rules.

Use it when only a few pages hold premium content: a price list, a course lesson, a photo gallery.

Element allowlist

Allow right-click on specific elements

CSS selectors, comma separated, for elements that stay usable while everything else is protected — for example a, .allow-copy, pre code. Each selector is matched against the clicked element and its parents.

Typical uses:

  • links, so visitors can still open them in a new tab from the menu;
  • a “copy code” block or a coupon code visitors are meant to copy;
  • buttons and form controls of an embedded widget.

DevTools reaction

When DevTools is detected

  • Show the message only — the default, the same as the free indicator.
  • Blur the page content — hides the content while DevTools looks open and restores it once it is closed.
  • Redirect to a URL — sends the visitor to the Redirect URL, for example a page explaining your content policy.

Detection is best-effort and can misfire, so prefer Blur over Redirect on sites where false alarms would hurt real readers. Exempt roles are never affected.

NoScript fallback

Right-click and shortcut blocking need JavaScript. For visitors who have it switched off, PRO adds a CSS layer that still blocks text selection and image dragging — whichever of the two you have turned on — on protected pages. It needs no setting.
