.pdf,.jpg. Left empty, every type below is accepted. Both limits are checked on the server too, so they hold even if someone bypasses the browser.
Whatever a field allows, these types are the only ones accepted: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp, pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, txt and zip.
Your hosting may have a lower upload limit of its own. If large files fail, check it with your host.
The file uploads as soon as it is chosen, and the form waits until it is finished before sending. If the upload fails, the field says so and the visitor can try again.
If a CAPTCHA is on, the page with the file field shows it, and a file can be uploaded only after the CAPTCHA is passed. The visitor does not have to pass it a second time to send the form.
Files go to the uploads/rbforms folder of your site, under long random names, in a folder that cannot be listed. They stay out of the public media lists of the WordPress API. Files sent before version 2.1.0 stay where they were.
Open or download a file from its submission, or from the link in the notification.
This is protection by an address nobody can guess, not by a login. Anyone who has the exact link to a file can open it, so treat those links with care, and do not collect highly sensitive documents this way.
Deleting a submission removes the submission, not its file, which stays in uploads/rbforms. To remove a file, delete it from the media library or the folder itself.
If you turn on Delete all forms and submissions when the plugin is uninstalled in Settings → General, uninstalling the plugin removes the uploaded files too.
